I am a PA-certified elementary teacher, tutoring grades K-8. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kutztown University of PA, with a Major in Elementary Education and a Minor in Criminal Justice. I firmly believe that every child has the right to the best educational experiences possible! Sometimes, however, despite a teacher's best efforts, a child still struggles to comprehend and/ or apply a certain academic skill set. This is when a professional tutor can be a very beneficial tool. A more private, personalized, and less formal approach to teaching can be the key to helping a child feel less pressured and overwhelmed, leading them to be more comfortable with asking questions, delving deeper into the subject matter, and enjoying learning. In this way, tutoring can help to build a child's self confidence, thereby improving grades and test scores, and increasing personal and academic growth.
Experience
I have loved every minute of my journey through education! During my college experience and extending into my current position as a full time elementary school teacher, I have focused on Elementary Education, concentrating in Urban Education. Since graduating in 2006 with Summa Cum Laude Honors from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, I have dedicated myself with passion to the education of students from diverse backgrounds, including ESL and Special Education students, each with their own strengths and challenges, as well as their own unique personalities. As a teacher for over 9 years and a mother of two children of my own, my commitment to education runs deep. Throughout my years as a student, parent, teacher, and tutor, I have had experience with the educational practices and curricula of a wide variety of schools from Philadelphia to Allentown and its surrounding areas. I bring all of these experiences to my teaching and tutoring. I have the education base and ability to help your child or children feel more confident about and successful with the instruction they receive at school. Thereby, the student(s) I work with will be better able to apply their new knowledge and understanding in a greater number of formal and informal performance areas. In short, I have the experience, knowledge and know-how to help your child or children reach their full learning potential in the most creative and fun ways!
